Bethany talks about a painting by Irek Szelag called “The Black Madonna Of Czestochowa.” You may want to look at his painting before reading Bethany’s experience.
I’m reading “The Secret Life of Bees” and this passage hit me hard. (One of the characters is explaining the past and present connection to this black Madonna painting…)
“Because when they looked at her, it occurred to them for the first time in their lives that what’s divine can come in dark skin. You see, everybody needs a God who looks like them, Lily.”
This has also been my experience in seeking the Divine Feminine. I have never felt so thoroughly validated and affirmed as I have while learning of Her and comprehending Her existence.
This is not creating a god in our own image but perceiving the divinity within us.
I think that Divinity are not only the authors and creators of diversity but the embodiment of it.
There’s so much more to comprehend than I do and I don’t have answers to the many questions swirling in my head but I do know that divinity can be found within each human heart.💓
