Pray I am there by M. Alice Abrams
Pray, I am there.
Speak, I am listening.
You are my child, my love now surrounds you.
I hear your prayers,
I love my children,
For such is our kingdom, the kingdom of heav’n.
Believe it or not the flowers in this carving are modeled after the most gorgeous tulips I recently planted in my front yard. They are simply the most beautiful flowers I have ever seen (and who knew I would have found them at Costco of all places). The tulip is a symbol of perfect love. Pink tulips in particular are a symbol of caring and attachment. Eucalyptus is considered a holy tree to the Aboriginals, and represents the division of heaven and earth. The tulips and eucalyptus branches that partially obscure Heavenly Mother in this piece represent that though She may be hidden from our view and physically separated from us, it does not remove her care, attachment to us as Her children, and of course, the perfect love She and our Heavenly Father has for each one of us.
This piece is the second part of my Heavenly Mother “portraits”. This piece is a linoleum block print with watercolor and gold leaf embellishments.
